Techniques

There are two basic schools of working with encaustic, the techniques normally referred to as “European” and “North American”, the core difference being with the “European” style being worked in the encaustic paints being applied to a coated card (around 250gsm to 300gsm and above)in relatively thin coats, whereas the “North American” style has several layers built up working on more solid surfaces, such as a board made of ply or similar.
